CASE STUDY

Working with an educational establishment we introduced a culture change program which was successfully implemented. The culture was one of individuals working separately with a lack of knowledge sharing. It was identified that this was a barrier to organisational learning.

The first part of the process was to identify the state of the culture before an intervention. This was done on a one to one basis and creative tools were used to capture individual team members perspectives. We then identified a vision of what the organisation could be like if the culture were working well and people were sharing knowledge and learning.

At a facilitated workshop for the whole department, we identified the gap between the actual and the future state, and then created action plans and sub-groups to take responsibility for shaping and supporting  the journey to the new culture.

Case Study

Working with two sales teams within a US HiTech company, we took some time out on a one day workshop to reflect upon why one team was successful and the other team was not. The workshop was loosely structured on the Ladder of Inference created by Chris Argyris and later used by Peter Senge in The Fifth Discipline: The Art and Practice of the Learning Organization.  Lessons learned were drawn up from this and an action plan identified.

Case Study

Working with a regional team of 60 from a global technology company, a vision of a future culture change was developed where teams developed their own journeys to achieve this goal. This workshop used creative tools and was fun and engaging for the participants and followed up by a series of one to one short coaching sessions with each team member to help them focus on their part in the change initiative.

TESTIMONIALS

When starting my business, I called on Barbara for help as a coach and guide in formulating the initial steps to get off the ground. Barbara provides pertinent, practical advice on both professional and personal challenges. She has a rare capacity to filter through the noise and get to the core of an issue, helping to formulate clear objectives and the route to achieving them, quickly and effectively. Barbara has a strong background in business and education compounded by years of experience working with individuals and groups. As a coach and consultant, she is intelligent, attentive, incisive and inspirational and I have no hesitation in recommending her and her particular cocktail of wisdom.

Reenergizing workshop practicing a set of dynamic methods to help people being creative while using critical thinking approaches.” A T.S., Paris, Manager.

Thank you so much for offering this opportunity! It was my first encounter with creativity and it certainly showed me that these tools can be quite useful. The simple fact of taking time, “taking my shoes off”, reflecting and applying some of the tools really did provide me with some valuable insights and deeper awareness regarding my situation. I did particularly enjoy the collage part as it was quite an intuitive activity yet providing some solid food for thought. I loved the environment, comfortable, homey and safe and I think our group (size and composition) worked out real well. All in all, it was a very pleasant learning experience.”

Barbara Wilson’s creativity workshop takes one by surprise, exceeding one’s expectations about the outcome. Her method takes you out of your comfort zone, as you have to reveal your most intimate fears and dreams about your life to different complete strangers, in various exercises and settings (tête-à-tête, group talks, brainstormings). Thus you end up building very clear and concise story lines about both where you are and where you want to be, a reason on its own to attend the workshop. But furthermore, the advice and guiding you receive from those who hear your stories, are insightful, helpful and eye-opening. I definitely recommend this workshop!
